Camerata Andante
The String Laboratory where Artistry Meets Being
Camerata Andante is a high-performance sanctuary for the next generation of string players. More than an ensemble, it is a String Laboratory. A space designed to dismantle the barriers between technical mastery and emotional truth.
In an era of high-pressure careers and artistic isolation, we believe that music is a form of re-ligion... re-link: a profound connection to what matters most. Our mission is to cultivate not just the musician, but the inner life of the artist. As the saying goes: “He who possesses an inner life shall never suffer from solitude.”

Designed specifically for young student musicians at the threshold of their careers, the Laboratory serves as a vital intermediary between academic life and the professional world. We provide the missing link: a space where students transition from being pupils to becoming colleagues, refining the discipline, intuition, and excellence required by the world’s leading stages.

The Laboratory is guided by four mentors who are at the forefront of the international music scene. Our mentors bring a wealth of experience from the world’s most prestigious chamber ensembles and orchestras, such as Les Musiciens du Louvre, Kammerorchester Basel, La Cetra Barockorchester Basel, Anima Eterna, etc.
These active professionals work side-by-side with the students, sharing not just technical "secrets" of the métier, but the reality of a life dedicated to musical excellence.
The Laboratory Concept
Our sessions are intensive, immersive residencies held at the Sutra House in Riehen, Switzerland. We work in a curated String Orchestra format of 15 musicians (5.4.3.2.1), allowing for the transparency of chamber music combined with the power of an orchestral sound.
Under this guidance, students dive deep into the core of the repertoire, exploring every nuance, from bow technique and phrasing to the psychological depth of the score.
Total Immersion: The Sutra House Experience
We believe that environment dictates resonance. Our laboratories take place in an architectural sanctuary surrounded by nature. Thanks to our dedicated network of private sponsors and foundations, Camerata Andante is a full-scholarship program. Selected students pay absolutely nothing for:
-
Full Board & Accommodation: Three organic (Bio) meals daily.
-
Wellness & Reflection: Access to forest trails, meditation spaces, sauna, and hamam.
-
Focused Study: A space designed purely for artistic evolution and professional maturation.
Our Repertoire
Each laboratory focuses on the pillars of Western music.

For the 2026 season we are focusing on Beethoven String Quartets op. 18 (String Orchestra version)
Join the Laboratory
Camerata Andante is looking for dedicated string musicians who are ready to deepen their relationship with their instrument and themselves. This is a space for those who seek excellence without compromise and who believe that music is, ultimately, a way of life.
